According to a poll conducted by PlayStation Universe, gamers are still divided over whether to buy PlayStation VR when it launches in October.
Yesterday, the price of PlayStation VR was revealed as $399 in the U.S. and £349 in the U.K., and we polled PlayStation gamers via Twitter to see what the attitude was now that the official price has been announced.
Out of the 434 PlayStation gamers who entered the poll, 35 percent said that they will buy PlayStation VR, but opinion was split, with 30% saying ‘no’ and 35 percent stating ‘maybe.’ Those who said they won’t be picking up PlayStation VR at launch stated a number of reasons for their decision, including:
@PSUdotcom I’ll wait for the beta testers to find all the bugs for free. So maybe year 3 yes. I’d buy.

@PSUdotcom still need to see a few killer apps, price is right but need a minimum of 5 games I WANT to play in order to make the investment.

@PSUdotcom barely used 3D. If they make must play games, then I may partake.

The price point for PlayStation VR is way below its competitors, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, but it does appear that many will hold out to see what games are coming before they commit to pre-ordering Sony’s virtual reality headset. Still, that hasn’t stopped the masses heading to Amazon U.K. and Amazon Germany, where PlayStation VR has already sold out of pre-orders!
Need convincing? Sony confirmed that over 200 developers are now working on PlayStation VR games, though many games are still to be announced.
What are your thoughts on PlayStation VR? Will you pick one up at launch?
