Assassin’s Creed Shadows Didn’t Originally Have Yellow Paint, But It Was Added After Players Struggled In Playtests

The creative director on Assassin’s Creed Shadows has revealed that the game originally didn’t have yellow paint (that is, the notorious markers that have been cropping up in games showing where you should go) until after play testing, during which players struggled without it.

Speaking with GamesRadar, Jonathan Dumont commented, “Well, we didn’t have it until players were really struggling in playtests to find their path when engaging in hidden trails activity. The environment is lush and full, and giving a bit of guidance was needed.”

Dumont revealed during the same interview that the development team are “actively looking” at offering an even tougher difficulty setting. PSU recently go to speak to members of the Ubisoft Quebec team, with brand boss Marc-Alexis Cote revealing that Ubisoft plans to utilise the Animus Hub to connect a ‘present-day story’ with its historical settings.
